Youth Referees

REFEREES NEEDED TO REFEREE OUR MITE B HOME GAMES

All youth (boys and girls) PeeWee/U12 and above are eligible to complete the requirements for USA Hockey Officiating at Level 1, and officiate at our mite B games. The requirements are listed below, and officials earn $20/game, payable in one lump sum at the end of the season. This is a great way to learn more about the game, connect with younger players, gain some valuable experience, and earn some extra money. 

Requirements for Youth Officials (Level 1) are:

LEVEL 1 Complete 

• Must complete online Membership Registration
• Must submit Registration Fee ($45 + $10 MN Affiliate Fee - reimbursable at the end of the season)
• Must attain an Open Book Exam score of 35/50 (or higher) 
• Must attend and complete a Level 1 officiating seminar sanctioned by USA Hockey
• Must complete Level 1 Online Education curriculum
• Must complete SafeSport training every two years (if 17 years old or older)

Level 1 officiating seminars are located throughout the Metro Area, and are listed on the USA Hockey Officiating Website. 

There are Mite only ref classes

Youth Officials are required to have black pants (they do not need to be official referee pants, but they should not have patterns or logos), a helmet with a half shield, a whistle, and a referee jersey.
